Nat talks to Chickpea, a book reviewer for e-zine Real Pretty Kind all about Book Week and her favourite books.
Chickpea Daley is 9 years old and the daughter of teacher librarian and blogger, Megan Daley of Children’s Books Daily. Chickpea is an avid reader and collector of all things weird and wonderful from nature. Her favourite items in her collection include a taxidermied fox from author/illustrator Narelle Oliver, a cow jaw, cow vertebrae, turtle shell, dead stick insect (from illustrator Max Hamilton) and a felted taxidermied Rainbow Lorikeet from author/illustrator Renee Treml.
Chickpea likes having penpals. She writes to her friend Pip and author/illustrator Tony Flowers writes her Ninja Mail, which is the best thing ever, and she has some of Tony Flowers' Ninja artwork on her bedroom wall because her daddy was a ninja and Tony knew that! Chickpea loves to read middle grade and junior fiction and has a very extensive picture book collection. She also likes cook books and using them to cook amazing things like eggy cup quiches and jam drops. You can see ChickPea’s collections and her cooking and books on the Children’s Books Daily social media.

Kate gives a shout out to Braille House, a Brisbane-based lending library of Braille and ebraille books. Unfortunately, Braille House has recently experienced funding cuts and relies on donations to keep up its work. To find out more or to make a donation head to braillehouse.org.au
One More Page was introduced to Braille House via author and friend of the pod Debra Tidball. Debra recently interviewed Andrew Backhouse from Braille House on the Just Write for Kids blog. It's a fascinating interview. If you'd like to read it, you can find it here: justkidslit.com/library-love
