Laura Harris oversees the wonderful children’s list at Penguin Random House Australia where they publish every book a child could ever want – at all stages of childhood from very young picture books, to the most sophisticated of Young Adult novels – and everything in between.
Critically acclaimed and best-selling authors pepper the list including Jeff Kinney, John Flanagan, Jacqueline Harvey, Morris Gleitzman and Mem Fox and our very own Nat Amoore. Laura has edited and shaped many of the books on the list over her 20 years with the company including works by Mem Fox, Melina Marchetta, Sonya Hartnett, Morris Gleitzman, Aaron Blabey and Felice Arena, to name but a few. Laura has been a literary judge on many awards, has lectured in Editing and Publishing and has had numerous reviews and articles published. And while often asked, she has checked with her doctor, who assures her she doesn’t have a novel in her.

Books Laura is excited about:
Evie is a ten year old book-mad girl who lives, breathes, and sometimes eats words. She runs the Instagram book review account @rockinreads, which she started to connect with others who share her passion for reading.
Through Rockin’ Reads, she has successfully launched a book swap initiative at her school, and is well known amongst peers, teachers and librarians as the go-to-kid for book recommendations.
Her taste for books includes middle grade magical realism, stories steeped in myths and folklore, and rather a lot of fantasy. Some of her favourite authors right now are Katherine Rundell, David Walliams, Garth Nix, and Karen Foxlee.
When she doesn’t have her head in a book, Evie is usually dancing her way through the day, doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, listening to podcasts, or speed solving Rubiks cubes, often all at the same time. She is a huge fan of the One More Page podcast, and is excited to be on the show!
